The Red Aventurine is from the Italian a Ventura, or all’avventura, which means ‘by chance’, and this pertains to the Italian glass produced by accident when metal filings were dropped in a vat of metal glass. Once it cooled down, it resulted in a stone with iridescent sparkles.
The red color in Red Aventurine is caused by Goethite or Hematite inclusions. Aventurine can also sometimes be called Aventurine Quartz, Aventurine, and Adventuring.
